1986 – burnt wood, lead
In the small room at the end of the fattoria’s corridor, the artist has covered the entire right wall with burnt wood. The intense black of the surface seems to express a catastrophic omen in the space. In the left hand corner, a black wedge-shaped form, made of lead, looms behind visitors entering the room; it is an excluded component, a physical manifestation of the loss referred to in the installation’s title.
