Celle Floating Sculpture

1990 – painted aluminium

Two circular forms, painted bright red, float freely. The rippling of the water causes their reflection to continually change. The sculptures are identical in form, but their difference in size suggests a mother-child relationship. In fact, the smaller one is exactly half the size of the other. The work has been designed to allow the two elements the greatest freedom of movement possible while prohibiting any collision between them or against the banks of the lake.
