2016 Residence at terrarossa
Twenty years after his first exhibition at Celle, Stefano Arienti has come back to “take up residence” in the Cascina Terrarossa that had hosted him before in a space he had loved. Here he has created an installation upstairs, running through three rooms and forming a sort of ideal studio, in which he has elaborated on images from his own past and from his ties to Celle. In the first room visitors see photographic prints of the park to which the artist has attached jig-saw pieces displaying the same imagery. In the next room objects and images referring to farm work, for instance the grape press, that have been partly coloured with gold ink. Finally, the very last room contains reproductions of art by great masters like Monet and Van Gogh and on these surfaces Arienti applies playdough or plasticine to underscore the brushstrokes’ tactile presence. The artist brings together reproductions of Celle and of renowned artworks of the past because they have a place in his heart; here he can preserve them and render them timeless through his own elaboration of their imagery.
