COLLEZIONE GORI

Magus

1993- marble

The northern façade of the fattoria building hosts a portrait broken up into five parts and arranged in a perfectly vertical line, one over the other. The oval forms, although different from the other shapes found on the façade, do not alter the rhythms of the architecture. Rather, they form a flattering collage, enhanced by the five different colored marbles. Here, the artist is referring to Indian culture, which attributes cosmological meanings, rich with creative and sensorial relevance, to form and color. In this location, the work recalls the tradition of using coats of arms to decorate the façades of old houses, as can still be seen on many of the historic buildings at Celle.
