2022 – steel and crystal
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the opening of the park to the public, Vittorio Corsini pays homage to the totality of the environmental art project in Celle. A long-standing friend of the Collection and connoisseur of the places and processes, the artist was inspired by the way the works are discovered inside the park. Indeed, in Celle, the sculptures only appear to those who walk through the park and personally experience a reality in which nature, human thought and artifice are components of a great unicum.
The artist comments: ‘In Celle, a sculpture is like an oak tree, it has the same intensity, except that it proposes different questions precisely because sculpture is an artifice’.
Exhibited in the first room of the Cascina, which marks the highest point of the park’s itinerary, La somma del tutto is in the form of a humble crate of the type used by fruit vendors to contain their produce. Here the production is of an entirely different kind and the box is filled with precious crystal “stones” engraved with the names of the artists who have brought new ideas to life site-specifically in Celle. Corsini’s intention of luminescence is achieved through the choice of clear crystal where a blue crystal (“Giuliano Gori”) stands out right in the middle of the pile: the precious stone that catalyses those around it.
