2000 – lead, aluminium
In the summer of 2000, Mattiacci held a large one-man show, creating an installation for every room in the Cascina Terrarossa. His dedication and his artistic versatility left a lasting impression on the Gori Collection, so Mattiacci was able to choose a room in the fattoria where he could permanently display a summary of his Idea. The room, now transformed into a miniature galaxy, is remarkably different from the other rooms in the corridor. The work does not involve the walls, but rather the entire floor. In a “sea” of tiny lead weights that hide the terracotta floor, three aluminum planets float and are decorated with abstract vortex signs. There is one full sphere resting on the small lead weights, whereas the other two planetary figures are semi-spheres, alluding to a continuation of the form beneath floor level.
