1985 – bronze
For her first work in bronze, the artist chose a field enclosed by a barbed wire fence just outside the confines of the Romantic garden. Here, in four rows, she lined up thirty-three figures without heads or arms, empty inside as if reduced to shells. When first seen, the figures seem more or less alike because of the six models used repeatedly for their creation. However, when one walks around the figures and views them from the inside, one realizes that each figure has been modeled uniquely from the others.
