1982 – hides, live wire, flame on wall
On the villa’s top floor, the artist chose a room where he has placed installations on opposite walls, inviting the visitor to walk through the middle of his work. A live wire emerges from two cow hides, which seem to be the source of its energy. The incandescent wire traces a well-defined line of red, the color of fire, which brings light and warmth to the space.
On the opposite wall, a large five-pointed star almost entirely covers the surface. This design, made by burning the stucco with a blow torch, creates an artful incision into the wall. During the creation process, the flame’s heat melted the minerals contained in the mortar. This gave rise to a glassy substance, typical of metal fusions, as well as to the discoloration of the wall into varying shades of gray.
