1985 – fiberglas and stone
The main pathway that flanks the large lake passes three apparently monolithic figures, immobile guardians of the center of the park. The surrounding holm oaks, butcher’s broom and other species of thick vegetation make the appearance of the artwork very mysterious. One figure lies on her back with her knees bent, another buries her body in the ground, while the third rises high up among the trees.
A thin layer of moss has coated the figures rendering them even more ambiguous and evocative. The artist used his own original technique in creating these figures: using fiberglass as a base, he created the forms on a 1:1 scale before entirely covering each one with stone. Next he chiseled the stone blocks until he found the fiberglass form. It is this thin remaining layer of stone that creates the illusion of monolithic figures.
